SpoorSim Release 1.0 (also referred to as The Software) Copyright (c) Charl Vockerodt, 2005. All rights reserved. SpoorSim is a freeware train driving simulator programme featuring locomotives used by the South African Railways. A S.A.R. Class GMA/M Garratt steam locomotive and a S.A.R. Class 33 (GE U20C) diesel-electric locomotive is at your disposal to be driven along a 100 mile fictional route. I would like to express my thanks to the following gentlemen: - Johan Pretorius for providing photographs, drawings and other information. - Quinten Pendle for his contribution towards the diesel engine sound. You are invited to make a donation towards further development of this programme. Please visit http://homepage.ntlworld.com/slsim for details on how to make your donation. Enjoy the drive. This version offers limited driving of locomotives. Working steam locomotive controls are the blower, regulator, reverser, sander and train brake. Boiler pressure remains at full pressure. Diesel-electric locomotive functional controls are the throttle, reverser, sander, dynamic and train brakes. The driving speed limit is 80 kilometers per hour. A penalty stop is incurred when this limit is exceeded during which all controls are disabled. 2. All trains use the same sound source material and this periodically results in echoes when trains run together.
